In northern Nepal summers are cool and winters are severe, while in the south, summers are very hot and winters are mild to cold. Nepal has five seasons: spring, summer, monsoon, autumn and winter. In the southern region of Nepal (Tarai), summer temperatures exceed 40° C, while winter temperatures range from 7°C to 23°C. In mountainous regions, hills and valleys, summers are temperate while winter temperatures can plummet to sub zero. The average temperatures in Nepal drop 6°C for every 1,000 m you gain in altitude. The monsoon season starts around mid-June, peaking in July and August, and winding down in early September and brings rain, humidity and an increase in temperatures across most of Nepal.

All tourists must first apply for a visa from a Nepalese embassy/mission or consulate in their home countries before travelling. All tourists must have travel insurance that includes $5000 worth of coverage for COVID-19. Procedures at the international airport at this time consist of temperature checks and a spray disinfecting area. If you are travelling in Nepal then the government has advised that you carry proof of your negative PCR test and proof of (at least) seven days accommodation with you at all times. The Government of Nepal has lifted its restriction on the entry of passengers originating from the UK. A completed, printed “International Traveler Form” must be presented at check-in.
